Riftbound Vendetta: Rivalries, Rare Cards & Why You Should Protect Your Sealed Boxes
Share
July 31, 2026. For the first time in Riftbound’s history, every market in the world opens their Vendetta booster boxes on the same day. No import delays. No watching the US and China tear open packs while you wait weeks for stock to arrive in Australia. We’re in from day one — which means the sealed product race starts simultaneously everywhere.
Vendetta is Set 4 of the League of Legends Trading Card Game, and it’s built entirely around one concept: rivalry. The most iconic matchups in League of Legends history, brought to life on card. With preview season kicking off July 6 — just days away — community hype is about to shift from a simmer to a full boil.
Here’s everything you need to know as an Australian collector, and why protecting your sealed Vendetta boxes from day one matters more with this set than any that came before.
What Is Riftbound: Vendetta?
Vendetta is the fourth main set of Riftbound, releasing globally on July 31, 2026. It introduces a structural change Riot has confirmed will become the new standard going forward — 9 Champion Legends per set rather than 12. For collectors, fewer Legends per set means more concentrated demand on sealed product. For players, it means greater card depth within each champion archetype.

The Champions — Who’s in Vendetta
Eight of nine Champion Legends have been officially confirmed. Every champion is paired against a rival, and that rivalry defines their domain pairing, card design, and collector treatment. The ninth champion will be revealed when preview season opens on July 6.
- Zed — The Master of Shadows (Ionia). Headlines the Showdown Deck paired against Shen. One of the most popular and recognisable champions in League of Legends history.
- Shen — Eye of Twilight (Ionia). Paired against Zed in the Showdown Deck. Zed vs Shen is arguably the most iconic rivalry in LoL lore.
- Nasus — The Curator of the Sands (Shurima). Featured on the Vendetta booster box display. Rival of Renekton.
- Renekton — The Butcher of the Sands (Shurima). Brothers whose rivalry spans millennia of Shuriman history.
- Akali — The Rogue Assassin (Ionia). The booster box key art champion. One of the most visually striking characters in the entire LoL roster.
- Mel — Daughter of Ambessa (Noxus). Introduced to League via the Arcane Netflix series, making her Riftbound debut here.
- Ambessa — Noxian general and matriarch of House Medarda. A central figure in Arcane Season 2.
- One champion still unconfirmed — to be revealed during preview season beginning July 6.
The Arcane Connection — A Set for More Than Just TCG Players
Vendetta has something none of the previous Riftbound sets have had in quite the same way: a direct pipeline to the Arcane fanbase.
Mel and Ambessa are both central characters from Netflix’s Arcane — one of the most critically acclaimed animated series of the past decade. Arcane Season 2 introduced millions of people to Noxian characters who had no prior physical card game representation. Those viewers are now seeing familiar faces on Riftbound cards for the first time, and many of them will buy sealed product as a collector item regardless of whether they play competitively.
Beyond the confirmed Legends, Vendetta also features Vi and Jinx alongside Jayce and Viktor as special Overnumbered Showcase variants — four more beloved Arcane characters appearing on some of the most visually spectacular collector cards the set has to offer.
This matters for sealed product demand in a way a purely gameplay-driven set wouldn’t. Arcane fans who don’t play Riftbound still want sealed boxes as collector items. That’s a second audience buying and holding product rather than opening it — which tightens available supply further.
The Overnumbered Cards — Vendetta’s Chase Collectibles
Vendetta introduces a brand new Showcase variant called Overnumbered: two rival champions printed on facing artwork that forms a single connected scene when the pair is placed side by side. These are the chase collector cards of the set.
The confirmed Overnumbered pairs are Vi and Jinx, and Jayce and Viktor. The connecting artwork will also be made available as playmats and card sleeves at launch, making these designs some of the most collectible Riftbound has ever produced.
Why Overnumbered Cards Drive Sealed Demand
Overnumbered cards appear at a low pull rate, meaning sealed boxes hold speculative value even after the initial rush. Collectors chasing a specific pair have strong reason to buy multiple boxes sealed rather than purchasing singles — which increases demand for sealed product specifically and keeps box prices elevated longer.
Why Sealed Is the Play — and Why Day One Protection Matters
Riftbound Origins launched in late 2025 as the first English set. Within months, sealed booster boxes had appreciated meaningfully. The pattern isn’t unique to Riftbound — it’s how collector-driven TCGs operate: limited print runs, no reprints, and a growing player and collector base means sealed product trends in one direction once initial supply is absorbed.
Vendetta is the first Riftbound set with global simultaneous release. Australian demand, US demand, European demand, and Asian demand all hit the market on the same day. Supply doesn’t get to drip-feed one region at a time the way previous sets have. The initial allocation sells through faster when everyone is buying at once — exactly the condition that drives early price appreciation on sealed product.
And here’s where protection matters more than most collectors realise:
A single tear in cellophane packaging can decrease a box’s value by 40–60%.
Corner damage can reduce resale prices by 30%.
Seal damage can render a box unsellable to serious collectors entirely.
The collectors who protect their sealed product from day one are the ones sitting on full value when demand catches up to supply. The ones who don’t are the ones selling at a discount because their box has “shelf wear.”

The Window Is Shorter Than You Think
Preview season begins July 6 — just days away. That’s when Riot drops the full card reveals, mechanic explanations, and the official Vendetta overview. Community hype accelerates from that point through to July 31, and early interest in sealed product builds in the weeks before launch, not after.
Retailers across Australia will have Vendetta booster boxes from July 31. If you’re planning to keep yours sealed — and based on where Riftbound sealed product has been heading since Origins, that’s a reasonable decision — your case should be ready before the box arrives, not after it’s been sitting unprotected on a shelf.
Whether you’re buying Vendetta for the Zed and Shen rivalry, for Mel and Ambessa as Arcane characters, for the Akali key art, or simply because sealed Riftbound product has proven itself as a solid collector investment since day one — protect it properly from the start.
